Message from Father Demetri
"Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God." - Romans 15:7
Family and Friends of St. Nicholas,
Christ is Risen! Χριστος Ανεστη!
I pray you are doing well and staying healthy during this extended situation we find ourselves in. Like you, I’m praying that our Risen Lord will clear this out so we can get back to some sense of “normalcy”.
I thought I would update you on where we are at this point. While “where we are going” in the weeks and months ahead is not fully known, I ask you, to continue to pray for both wisdom and faith as we navigate uncharted waters.
This past week we offered 5 forms of outreach for members of our parish family. This coming Tuesday at 7pm on Zoom we will offer a Pandemic Paraklesis Supplication Service to The Holy Trinity. You can call in to listen to the service or join by the video conference link on your devices. Our GOYA will offer two gatherings during the week, on Tuesdays and Fridays (the gathering on Fridays will be a Bible Story discussion). Wednesdays give us some time to enjoy coffee talk at 10am. Finally, Bible Study will take place on Thursdays at 630pm. We are currently discussing the Orthros/Matins Gospel Passages (total of 11) and we have already discussed 3 of them.
There is just something exciting about seeing each other on a weekly basis through the means of the internet and all avenues mentioned above. If you have not been part of these gatherings, I would encourage you to consider joining and seeing what each one is like. I also welcome your ideas for other avenues of outreach.
With regards to the Live Streaming on YouTube and our Facebook Page, we’ve had very positive feedback both from those who are part of our parish family, as well as many visitors who show up every week. Many are participating online and if you’re one of our online worshipers, thank you for taking the time to pray and participate with us!
For those who haven’t been able to watch online due to limited, or no internet access, we have the option for you to listen to the service on your telephone. Please call the Church Office 781-862-6453 to find out how you can participate over the phone. Please share this info who those who do not have email access and are not able to read this letter.
It has also been encouraging to know how many of our faithful have been communicating over the phone for the past 7 weeks. Our Parish Council created a COVID-19 Task Force and one of the first areas of focus was to reach out to all members of our Parish Family. We have a small group of individuals who have offered to call households if you would like to be involved in this outreach again please call the Church Office.
I love all of you and miss our times of worship in our St. Nicholas Church! Yes, I know the church is “people”, but there’s just something extra amazing about getting together in one accord and in one place… which I hope and pray will happen by the Grace of God!
May our Risen Lord continue to bless, guide, protect and keep all of you healthy and safe.
Christ is Risen!
